River Market is where culture and commerce converge. Located in the heart of New Westminster, our market offers over 70,000 square feet for you to shop, eat, and play, all right next to the mighty Fraser River.

Ever since 1892, New Westminster has had a bustling market along the riverfront. In the early days, farmers from all over the Valley came to the market on the Fraser River using paddlewheelers and small boats. In 1986, the Westminster Quay Public Market was built and open its doors to a flow of activities.

In 2008, the Westminster Quay Public Market was renamed River Market at Westminster Quay to celebrate the history of Fraser River, the growing communities of Fraser Valley, and the market's revitalization. It's envisioned as a place where you can shop for the freshest local produce or take time out to enjoy good food, fine wine and other delicacies. It’s also a place to showcase the services and offerings of local entrepreneurs and celebrate the talent of regional artisans, and musicians. Above all, it’s a location where we, as neighbors, friends, and family, can get together to share, enjoy, and enhance all that this remarkable community has to offer.

Getting here is easy.

River Market is located at 810 Quayside Drive, near the intersection of 8th Street and Columbia Street in downtown New Westminster. It is one block south of the New Westminster Skytrain station. The Market is only 25 minutes from Vancouver by car or by Skytrain, and only 30 minutes by car from either BC Ferry terminal and the USA border crossings.
